The NY office is currently looking for Lead CG Artists with at least 7-10 years experience. CG Lead artists are key elements of our creative team, and the ideal candidates will possess the following skills and capabilities.
Responsibilities
Is able to manage large projects and coordinate the VFX output and quality control, from initial conception to completion of the project.
Must work closely with other departments, such as 2D, design and production.
Must work closely with the client to ensure the clients requirements are met and that the client is guided effectively through the creative process.
Works as a shoot attend, advising production and clients on set and all areas of on-set supervision.
Liaise with the London and Los Angeles offices to encourage knowledge sharing, planning and cohesion.
Must continually research, develop and adapt new and current ideas and techniques to ensure they remain innovative and at the forefront of our industry.
Must represent The Mill within and externally such as industry events.
Skills and Experience:
Minimum 7 years experience, preferably in commercials
Must be client facing.
Degree in computer graphics preferred
Advanced knowledge of Maya or XSI crucial
Mental Ray and Arnold preferred
Linux operating systems knowledge as well as experience of OSX and Windows.
Advanced knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and ideally Nuke
An understanding of all facets of 3D, i.e. hair dynamics, animation rigging/set-up and CG character animation, modelling, texturing and lighting.

Compositing Assist
The Mill NY is currently looking for an experienced Compositing Assist for immediate start. The Compositing Assists will act as the right hand people to Senior Flame and Nuke Artists literally working side by side with them. This is an excellent opportunity to join a world renowned team in an apprentice-type situation. We require individuals able to work autonomously in a fast paced environment to deliver a high level of compositing. You will have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills and technical knowledge and have relevant experience in a commercial, film or TV environment.
Additional responsibilities include:
Simple conforms through to managing complete jobs involving numerous compositions using both 2D and 3D elements, attending pre-production meetings and managing large workloads to deliver on time to tight deadlines.
Providing support within the compositing department by preparing client-provided art materials, planar tracking, camera tracking, rotoscoping, generating clean plates, and painting.
Collaborating with the 3D artists and VFX supervisors to ensure the creation and supply of the best CG elements for Compositing to meet our clients needs.
Tracking of all elements associated with each job, maintaining and performing Flame and Nuke archives, and keeping regular backups of workstations
Experience and Skills:
A minimum of 2 years experience on Flame, Nuke, Flare and/or Smoke in a professional capacity;
Must be highly visually creative with an excellent knowledge of visual effects techniques and post production software and hardware.
Desktop graphic applications experience is advantageous;
Exemplary communication skills and a flexible attitude to workflow;
A motivated approach and high service/work ethic.
Flexible schedule-may need to work late and/or on weekends

Nuke Compositor

We are currently looking for talented Nuke Compositors for immediate start. We require someone who is able to work both in a team and on their own in a fast paced environment. You will have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills and technical knowledge and have relevant experience in a commercial, film or TV environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the VFX Supervisor, VFX Producer, and lead CG artists.
Problem-solve complex compositing issues using Nuke within a VFX pipeline.
Work with clients to help visualize and create their shots.
Research, develop and adapt new and current ideas and techniques.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years compositing experience.
Advanced level of knowledge compositing 3D elements.
Understanding of VFX pipeline
Shoot experience a plus
Stereoscopic experience a plus
Flame experience a major plus

Flame Artists
The NY office is currently looking for Flame Artists with at least 5+ years experience. It is vital that our Flame Artists have a reputation for producing images that are original and stand out in a commercial break as this reputation attracts the type of high profile work The Mill has become renowned for.
Position Overview:
Creating and compositing special effects for commercials, music videos and broadcast projects from co-ordination of all 3D and live-action elements and visual effects design through to final compilation.
Must have an in-depth knowledge of Flame software, the technology used in the post-production process including current technical specifications, video and data formats and a working knowledge of film, video and shooting techniques for VFX compositing.
Lead meetings with clients, attend shoots and advise upon the most effective ways to shoot for special effects.
Must have an in depth awareness of client requirements and the ability to communicate creative ideas and co-ordinate and guide those clients through a creative process, often with a great deal of diplomacy, to achieve a result which is satisfactory to all.
Works with directors, VFX Supervisors, Editors and CG Supervisors to facilitate production of elements in preparation for compositing
Responsible for guiding and training junior Artists and ensuring the creative output of the whole department is to a standard befitting our worldwide reputation.
Constantly research, develop and adapt new and current ideas and techniques.
