They are at it again. Variety reports Warner Bros. will remake DC comic book LOBO for the silver screen. Director Guy Ritchie is signed up to direct the new incarnation of the intergalactic bounty hunter, while Kerry Foster and Steve Richards will be exec produce.
The character originated in 1983 in “Omega Men,” written by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen. Lobo has had several comicbook incarnations. In the film, he will be an indestructible, blue-skinned, 7-foot-tall and heavily muscled antihero who drives a pimped-out motorcycle and lands on Earth in search of four fugitives bent on wreaking havoc. Lobo teams with a small-town teenaged girl to stop the creatures.
WB is hoping that LOBO can keep his butt-kicking to a PG-13 rating to bring in more audience members. LOBO plans to be a effects heavy, action shoot-em-up with tough and irreverent tone that marked Ritchie’s earlier movies.
