New Chinese Animated Film to Star Yao Ming

Here is a story for all you basketball fans out there now that the playoffs are in full swing.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, basketball player Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets will voice the father of the lead in a now Chinese animated film.  THE MAGIC ASTER is a chinese fairy tale of good vs. evil tale and will be produced by Shanghai Film (Group) Corporation, Shanghai Animation Film Studio, and Xiamen Shangcheng Science and Technology Co.Ltd.

“A lot of animation produced in China is very good and I hope children can enjoy this one and pass on traditional Chinese culture as well,” Yao was quoted as saying.

Yao Ming also played in the ”Homer and Ned’s Hail Mary Pass” episode of THE SIMPSONS and starred a himself in the 2004 documentary THE YEAR OF THE YAO.
