Variety reports that actor Keanu Reeves will be staring in 20th Century Fox’s new feature adaptation of the anime series COWBOY BEBOP. Playing the role of Spike Spiegel, the space traveling bounty hunter, Reeves will once more step into the world of sci-fi.
Sunrise Inc., which produces the anime series, will be closely involved with the development of the English-language project. Sunrise’s Kenji Uchida and Shinichiro Watanabe will serve as associate producers alongside series writer Keiko Nobumoto. Series producer Masahiko Minami will serve as a production consultant.
This live action version of the popular anime will be produced by Erwin Stoff, and Peter Craig has been brought in to write the screenplay.
