Fighting game fans in the US will be happy to hear that  Street Fighter IV will be released in North America for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.  Capcom made it official this morning, and though the game will not be out in time for the Christmas rush, Street Fighter IV will be hitting shelves February 17, 2009.  AWN reports:

Capcom will return at least four classic “World Warriors” in STREET FIGHTER IV: returning favorites Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and Dhalsim. The characters and environments are rendered in stylized 3D CG, while the game is played in the classic STREET FIGHTER 2D perspective with additional 3D camera flourishes.

The Street Fighter Series is arguably the most popular fighting game in the world.  In its twenty years running, Street Fighter has generated some of the top game innovations of it genre.
