This weekend, three movies will debut “Hellboy II: The Golden Army”, “Journey to the Center of the Earth” and the Eddie Murphy comedy “Meet Dave”. Of these, “Hellboy” is expected to be the most successful based on strong numbers, tendency of sequels to do well and the success of Guillermo Del Toro’s previous film “Pan’s Labyrinth”. “Journey” while having strong family appeal will only open on around 1,000 3-D screens limiting it’s market to around a $15 million mark. “Meet Dave” has the chance to be successful due to it’s broad appeal but there has not been much buzz and analysts expect it to only gross around 8-9 million. “Hancock” and “Wall-E” will probably both do strong numbers as well.
