Intel and Dreamworks have entered into a strategic deal aimed at the development of 3-D technology and techniques. Under the deal, all of Dreamworks servers and workstations will recieve new Intel Chips, replacing the AMD chips currently in them, while Intel engineers rewrites Dreamworks software to work with them. In addition, Dreamworks will house a test site for a variety of projects including Larabee, which Intel believes will enable 3-D for video games, home theater systems, and personal computers. This new initiative comes just as Dreamworks prepares it’s first stereoscopic 3-D film “Monsters vs Aliens”, and its subsequent announcement that all future films will also be in 3-D.
