If anyone’s counting, Reuters is reporting that as of today, “Iron Man” will be past the $300 million mark in domestic box office sales. It’s taken the film 51 days to achieve that benchmark that so few movies will ever make. Last year, three films made it past $300 million– “Spiderman 3″, “Shrek 3″, and “Pirates of the Caribbean- At World’s End”.
Among summer 2008′s other big openers, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” had earned $279.5 million through Tuesday. Once considered a lock for the $300 million club, the latest installment in the Steven Spielberg franchise might have to claw its way to that level.
